I am a graduate of Bastyr University and hold a Masters degree of Science in Nutrition.
This two year program was preceded by three years of Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology.
I got into the field of Nutrition because I am endlessly fascinated by all aspects of food and nutrition. I am constantly inspired by how deeply food affects people, societies and the earth. I wanted to study a subject that would always entertain me and that I could use what I learned to help others. Thus, I want to use my degree to give back/contribute to the health of my
community and its members. I believe a strong and healthy community is
vital to a strong and healthy society and world, so my goals are to
achieve this by starting small. With Sliding Scale Nutrition I aim to help people on the individual level become more empowered about the food decisions they make. I predict that this empowerment will help them also become healthier and happier.
Besides helping people navigate the complexities of their diets, one
of my other passions in the field of nutrition lies in the food to
table movement. For me this means bringing locally grown food to peoples' tables and in turn their
bodies. It is my career goal to educate curious parties about how to
make healthier food choices. Additionally, in small and large ways I aim
to raise awareness about why it is important to value the food we consume.
